Karmageddon

Karmageddon is a high-octane tabletop and video game hybrid where players pit uniquely designed characters against each other in epic battles. Chammi partnered with the Karmageddon team to create 28 distinct, visually striking characters using AI-generated art. By blending cutting-edge generative AI with human creativity, the project achieved a cohesive character roster in record time—allowing the game to stand out in a crowded market.

The Challenge

• Character Consistency: Each of the 28 characters had iconic avatars but needed to extend beyond iconography and needed a unique illustration style that fit seamlessly within the game’s broader universe.

• Speed & Volume: Designing nearly two dozen characters traditionally would have been time-consuming and costly.

• Brand Identity: The characters needed to convey the game’s personality—edgy, adventurous, and sometimes whimsical—while remaining family-friendly enough for diverse player groups.

The Process

1. Project Brief & Collaboration: Chammi met with the Karmageddon team to understand the game’s lore, archetypes, and player demographics.

2. AI-Driven Concept Drafts: Our AI agents generated multiple visual drafts for each character, accelerating the initial concept phase.

3. Human Art Direction: Artists refined and polished the AI outputs, ensuring style consistency and thematic alignment.

4. Iterative Feedback Loop: Through quick review cycles, we integrated feedback from the game’s writers and lore specialists.

5. Final Artwork & Packaging: Once approved, each character’s final design was packaged for use across marketing materials, gameplay manuals, and in-game assets.

Finding the edge.

We leveraged AI to produce rapid iterations of character concepts, but crucially, humans retained the creative control—perfecting details like expressions, weapon designs, and color schemes. This synergy maximized both speed and artistic quality, setting Karmageddon’s character roster apart from competitors.
